If you are upset about the scams, then write to Rep. Barney Frank who has the power to outlaw their scams. If your atm printout says "available balance" of xx dollars, that is a lie...only the posted balance is actually available and they do not give you that. They claim checkcard purchases are easier and faster, but they minipulate payments to occur overdraft fees. I overdrew my account by 7 dollars and I don't mind paying for my mistake. However, I had 36 dollars and authorized 2 electronic payments...one for 34 and one for 12. They said that both items bounced which is impossible. They claim that the first 34 dollar charge was put on hold, then the 12 charge was ran "when i had a negative balance" so both items bounced. There was no hold on the 34 dollars by the merchant, wachovia claimed it was a hold a day later. Then if there was a hold on the money, it should not of put the account into the red. I hate these people

2. Written by Cindi in Lakeland, on 05-08-2009 18:03 After reading all the complaints with Wachovia, I now realize, I too, am closing my account. After two weeks of NSF charges of $35.00 each (I only get paid every two weeks) totalling $325.00, I called the bank to see what had happend. I was willing to admit I had made a mistake but they were charging me NSF fees on top of NSF fees and after all this my credit card payment of $10.00 thru Wachovia, they tried to run thru and charged me another $35.00 on that. They have the most inhumane individuals in customer service I have ever talked to. Out of $325.00 NSF charges they said they could refund me $35.00. I asked "who makes the decision on how much I get back" which I was told was "the computer" I have since sent a letter to the banking commision at the White HOuse. Don't know how far it will go but I can't believe they can just keep taking when there is not money there. And the bit about making a cash deposit must be credited immediately....thats not true, Wachovia advised me if I made a deposit after 2;00 p.m. (cash, check, money order....) it would not be credited till Monday. I was charged an NSF fee because I was $3.00 short on funds clearing, so guess what they got another $35.00. I could write a book on all the ways Wachovia scams to get another NSF charge.
3. Written by pissed houstonian, on 21-07-2009 08:52 wachovia keeps confusing and paying around with these terms " holds" and " available funds" " actual funds "all the time. i just got hit with a $105 overdraft for transaction that were in the hold and i accounted for them. so dont tell me to learn how to balance my checkbook. .....another lost customer.......

5. Written by Hayes, on 26-06-2009 18:48 Same problem here. I was charged $105 in nsf fees for one bad transaction. Here is what statement read: 6/25 NSF $35 6/23 Boost $53 6/22 NSF $70 ???? 6/22 Store $5 Bal after this:$10 6/22 Store $7 Of course, customer service explained it away with a lot of BS.. with their mysterious talk of "holds" and "actual available balances" Look, the numbers don't add up..I won't pay them another dime..I'm finding another bank. If everyone that has this problem goes to another bank, maybe they will take notice and quit trying to SCAM people.
6. Written by brown, on 26-06-2009 18:37 You people make me sick. You try to blame the bank for doing things that are untrue, just becuse you cant keep your own checkbook straight! You make my job a living ***!
7. Written by mm, on 21-04-2009 10:26 Wachovia just pulled this same stunt with me - I check both on line and over the phone before I made a purchase. I was told I had $126 in the bank and I need to pay for my daughter to go to an out of town doctor (she was very sick) and the charge was $111. Turns out, Wachovia was "holding" check card purchases (even though I checked on line and there were no holds shown). The cust. rep said "Well, I can see it on my screen but you can't see it on your screen". Scammers. Now they are calling because my account is still negative. Well, guess what? I don't get paid until next week so it will have to say negative. Once it's back in the black, I'm closing my account with them. If they can't help out a customer of 15 years, then shame on them. ![]()
8. Written by John32118, on 20-04-2009 11:39 Well, how can I check my balance when I am out and about when they only give you the available balance which is actually not the available balance. Even if you call their toll free number it gives you the available balance, not the posted balance which is actually the real available balance. Am I gonna call an 800 number go to the hassle of having to speak with a rep to get my posted balance which is my actual balance?? NO. I have a better solution and that is to quit using their scam check card and pay cash from now on. I have 3 monthly bills...power, cable and visa and I will use the free money order service by a major check cashing outfit. My only cost will be a stamp and I will pay 2 months at a time. I have had other problems using this electronic banking stuff and i think it is just designed to scam people. I am exploring my options about small claims court provided their agreement does not require mandatory arbitration. I am also preparing a better description of this scam and sending it to barney frank and that rep from new york who is trying to outlaw the scams of banks. It is impossible to have 36 dollars in my account, and have both items for 34 and 12 dollars bounce. One had to clear and one had to bounce.
9. Written by smith, on 20-04-2009 10:43 Wachovia was sold to Wells Fargo Bank during the month of December 2008. Wells Fargo has more complains than Wachovia. To reduce NSF, always check your balance, and try to reduce automatic payments (Elecontric Payments). Make sure all your deposited checks are clearned, before writing checks. Remenber that the banks are not your friends, and always check your accounts, and save all your receipts. Please take my advices becasue I used to work for several banks.
