Wachovia Treats Customers Horribly!

Recently, I was contacted by wachovia my 4 yr old son's savingsaccount was overdrawn due to ng check fees. Upon careful inspection, we realized my son's account was mistakenly hit with debits, the rep told me I had to go to my branch to handle. I went to the branch filled out affadavits and in less than a week rec'd correspondence the charges still stand. I called the toll free # supplied on the letter to escalate my issue. This is where the craziness ensued. I was transferred to numerous departments, my time on hold totaled well over an hour to only be mistreated by a manager and told to take my issue up with my employer who "deposits" into my son's account. I have numerous accounts with this financial institution including my mortgage and am disgusted at the treatment I have received. Especially after doing my due diligence and following protocol. I have just sent via certified mail a letter to the corporate office and will keep you updated. When it is feasible I will be taking my business elsewhere, where I as a consumer am appreciated.

Horrific customer experience at Wachovia

I went in to cash a check of $7000 a friend (Wachovia customer) had payed me. When I presented the check I was nicely invited to join the bank, and I smiled. I wanted to see how everything will go before I decided to become a customer of Wachovia. After about 15 minutes of verifying my ID and checkcard, the teller calls my friend (the payor) to verify the check, I was told it's fine, and the funds are available. Another 15 minutes later the teller (Sylvia Pineda-Alfaro) and head teller can't get the computer to say "approved" even though the funds are available. So I'm still waiting and more phone calls are being made. None of them are telling me anything, I'm just waiting. So I tell them I have a Dr's appointment and I have to leave. Then the head teller after another 15 minutes now tells me to have a seat because she still has to make some calls. This is now 45 minutes; Sylvia Pineda-Alfaro takes the check and gives it to me to leave if I can't wait. Of course I refused, after this while I needed the check cashed. The manager now comes to stand by me and really says nothing. 10 minutes later I'm given the money and I start to leave. Sylvia Pineda-Alfaro now begins to laugh at me and sarcastically says; "bye.........have a nice day.........." I now tell her "I'll report you" and instead of the manager to tell her to act right he stands there and just chackled and she continues to laugh at me. This is the epitome of bad customer service, if a teller can not empathize with an angry customer that's one thing, but in addition to that laugh at the customer? I don't think this is the kind of representation Wells Fargo/Wachovia needs to have out in the field especially not to a potential customer. This indeed was a horrific experience. I hope you address it immediately, so that the next potential customer out there doesn't go through the same thing. Thanks for your time.

Paid a $700 Debit when my acct was neagtive AFTER I told them not to

I had a Wachovia bank account for sometime. Got into trouble playing online Poker. I had a $700 ACH coming in from Poker Stars. They had debited my acct before. I called and asked what can be done as I dont' really want to pay this. The lady said I can put a BLOCK on the company and they will not be allowed to debit my account. She was very nice and helpful. I thought "great!". She said it would take 2 otr 3 days before this to take affect, It usually takes about 4 to 5 days to have it debited from Poker Stars. My account was already at -$18 and I asked "so what happens if this comes in before the block? will it be paid or will I get a NSF charge"? She flat out told me It wont be paid because you account is already overdrawn. All seemed ok until 4 days later, I log on to wachovia and see my accouint is -$754 !! They paid the $700 debit and ofcourse threw in a $36 fee. I called to inquier whats up? The lasy told me the company used a different code and it was paid. I said "well wait a min, I was told #1...This COMPANY is blocked and #2 Nothing would be paid because my acct was negative!" The lady apologized saying "whoever told you that should not have becuase we can't tell if something will get paid or not. I'm like "I dont care about the apology, just take the $700 off!". She wouldnt and I asked to talk to the manager. She wouldnt and said "why should we? If we take it off then you win" I'm shocked, I said "I'm not winning anything, and now you want me to pay for $700 when I don't have the money and after I was told by Wachovia it would not have been paid!". This is crazy! I also said " what do you mean I win? Wachovia messed up by paying this, it want my fault!, Now you want ME to pay this....now you win" She asked "well didnt you allow this transaction? I said yes BUT I asked for a Block long before this hit the Bank plus was told it would not be paid!". She woudn't budge, then said "how about I pay half, we'll go half on it". She said "no". I told her "I'm not paying this" She said if I don't it will go to collections and on my chex systems account. I told her had I knew this was gonna happen, I would have Gladly closed my account and either opened a new wachovia account or somewhere else. A closed Bank accouint simply bounces off any ACH's or Internet charges after the acct is closed. I said "Well had your WACHOVIA rep said to me she didnt know if it would get paid or not, I'd closed my account, but I was flat out told in either scenerio it WILL NOT GET PAID and yet it did, and you want me to pay for this...no way!" I emailed BBB and all tjhey did was forward my email to wachovia...LOL. The guy at wachovia did take the $36 fee off, but I wasnt gonna pay this $700 charge. So sure niff, it went to collections and on chex systems, I now have to Bank at a second chance bank. And to all you clowns who say" well you shouldnt have been playing Poker in the first place". Thats not the issue, the issue was my bank told me The Company would be Blocked and nothing will be paid anyhow since my acct is in the red (this was before the new Bank changes that took place in Aug 2010 and thank God for them too, this would not have happened now). It's just another example how Banks have you bend over and do it to ya, they never admit when they are wrong, they do nothing to make it right.

Try doing that at a casino and see what happens. You have no one to blame but yourself.

Your words: "I called and asked what can be done as I dont' really want to pay this."

How nice that you think just because you "don't really want to pay it" you think you can just call the bank and have them help you perpetrate a crime. Gotta love losers like you - irresponsible cry-babies who just don't get it.

Then you were *** enough to believe the bank when they said they wouldn't pay it - who's laughing now?

Me and a lot of other people. :grin

Guest

you were playing poker online mistake 1

playing without having money in bank mistake 2\

trying to block close acct after incurring loss mistake 3

and its the banks fault?

this is a legally recoverable loss for the bank to collect.

do this in person and broken kneecaps could result if you try this with the wrong people

try gamblers anonymous before its too late

Agripina Ymf

HAHA...I knew some *** would say it's my fault from playing poker.

It could have been from buying a Lemon car.

I told the Bank about the forthcoming charges and they 1. Put a permanent BLOCK on that comnpany and had all the info from past transactions where they debited my account.

2. (This is the one that really *** me off).

I was told flat out by a Wachovia customer service rep that since my account was already -$18 NO DEBITS will be paid but I would get a $36 NSF fee. Fine, but don't then PAY the *** and hold be accountable for their negligence.

Cyndi Zha

IF you had authorized previous charges from Poker Stars, then they have the right to continue charging a blocked card. In the case you reported your card lost or stolen, they could contact the credit card company/bank & start charging your new card without your knowledge as long as they can provide proof that you had authorized charges from them previously.

It is a terrible business practice and fortunately it doesn't happen very often, but it CAN and it DOES happen.

Guest

You playing poker, is the issue. Take some responsibility, and act like an adult

Guest

The banks are wrong? was this a legitimate charge?

You got "in trouble" sounds a lot like I spent money I didn't have or couldn't afford to spend. But unless poker stars is stealing the money from you, you have no right to be upset.

Why should the bank help you to rip off a business?

If you want to be upset at someone, look in the mirror

No Christmas Trees NO MONEY

AS GOD as my witness if I do not see trees in my bank by next week I will remove every penny we have and find a bank that believes in the birth of Jesus.. You do not want to offend people, well BIG MISTAKE because you have offically offended MILLIONS of us.. I am communicating with everyone I know personally, via e-mail and my 10000plus facebook friends. AMERICA IS A CHRISTIAN NATION AND WE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS.. DO not follow the wods of our President to Turkey who says we are not. You both are wrong..and you will pay the price of turning your back on us.

Absolutely, because a fake tree is the world recognized symbol of Jesus. That makes sense. Please tell everyone about your complaint, so they can all tell you how ridiculous you are.

Guest

I went to my Wachovia branch and questioned the young woman manager. She said she would have someone from "corporate" call to explain.

No call. I emailed the manager, no response.

Friday, I went back to the manager, who said she has been too "busy" to check her emails or erect a tree. I closed one of two accounts and said I would decide on the other after I checked back next week to see if they had put up a Christmas tree.

Guest

And I refuse to do business with a bank that tries to force myth and superstition on me. So I guess it evens out.

No Christmas Trees?

I cannot believe you are bending to the minority of people who do no view a Christmas tree as a sign of the season. I am so tired of large corporations not standing up to this minority, usually 1 or 2 people. I worked for Wachovia in North Carolina for several years and enjoyed my time there. It is not the same and even though the local people are great, I am very disturbed by this latest move by corporate. Make a stand, do the right thing, put the Christmas trees back. Think about why you went out of business!!!

Wachovia's new

Oh, how Wachovia scams. With the new financial regulations in place my wife and I were recently assessed overdraft charges in excess of $300.00. How did they do this. My wife needed a medical test and she had to right a check to cover it. We had enough to cover the check, but it was not immediately accessible, no problem right. Not with Wachovia, what do they do, they process all the debit card transactions, but the bills set up on the bill pay all did not clear, thus NSF charges. We transfer more money into the Wachovia account, again more checks presented, more NSF charges. The sad part of this is without all the NSF charges we would have only have overdrawn about $30. Something needs to be done about this WACHOVIA monster.

Wachovia took 8 weeks to deposit a check!

I own a small business and we have a customer in Canada. This customer pays us by check, in US dollars, but from a Canadian bank. We have been depositing their checks in our Wachovia account for several years. Typically Wachovia has deposited these checks in a week or less. With our last check it took these crooks 8 weeks to deposit the check. How do you think they would react if someone help up their funds for 8 weeks? Kind of tough to run a business when my bank acts like a common thug with a gun to my head. Needless to say I am looking for a new bank. Wachovia is now part of Wells Fargo. Will it make a difference? I doubt it. I hope they rot in ***.

What has Wachovia Bank become?

Wachovia bank used to be a great institution with great service. In Florida, even though they are not Wells Fargo yet (they are owned by Wells Fargo), I can see the horrible influence already. Any time you walk into a branch, you are "assaulted" by bankers wanting to sell you more products. More products you don't want and have no need of. I can tell the bankers are not comfortable and are being forced to do this. Wake up Wells Fargo! Keep up these kind of sales tactics and you will lose more customers for good. QUIT trying to sell me new stuff EVERY time I walk into a branch. I can't even go through the drive through because I get it there too. Thank you so much for adding 5-10 extra minutes (minimum) because I have to wait for a teller to finish "selling" to someone else who is obviously done and wants to get the he** out of the branch. You are the worst and I will soon be moving my business elsewhere.

banking is a for profit business just like any other retail store. I am sure you people make money in your business...just as the banks need to make money, get over it.

If people could manager there money and not spend into the neg. you wouldnt get charged fee's

Guest

So, sad that banking has come to this pushing products down customers throats. How about how may I help you? Not what I can take from you.

Guest

These banks change hands so often they don't know which end is up. They are more into selling products than ever because they are losing their ***.

I am sick of it too. Even the drive thru is a pain in the rear because they will try to sign you up for everything from a loan to over draft protection.

Its a bank you ***, what do you think they do? Sell cookies?

NASTY!!!!

I recently went in Wachovia in Walterboro SC and had the worst experience ever. The ladies that were in the bank was not friendly at all. It honestly disgusted me. How can you have six women working the front area and only two are handling customers needs and the line is honestly out of the door. This is the only bank I have ever been to that experience this problem consistently every month and I really wish management would do something about it. Even if it was two head tellers and there line was closed If I was management I would request for them to be open around lunch or the beginning of the month when it is overwhelming When you only have two lines open and everyone else is doing other things in the middle of the day it really makes the customers feel like they just don''t care.

Wachovia envelop free deposit

I recently had bad experience with Wachovia envelope-free Atm. On 6/1/10 I made a deposit of $330 using the Atm (16 bills of $20 and 2 bills of $5).The transaction posted into the online account. The next day, $320 was withdrawn from my account by Wachovia. I gave them a call right away to understand what the problem was. The agent I talk to let me understand that I made a deposit of $10 instead of $330. After explaining myself over 10mns he transfers me to the Disputes. The next agent opens a case cg000155**** and explains to me that they investigate and i will receive follow up within 7 business days. On 6/15/10 (15 days later) I was still without any follow up from Wachovia. I gave them a call and talk to the Dispute .The agent could not gave me any clear answer about what happen. He asks to put me on hold to research. I waited 40mns and finally somebody presented himself as supervisor. I ask him why after 15 days I did have at least a correspondence to let me know that a case was open. He could not give me a proper answer. He ask me to explain to him what happen on 6/1/10 (seems like nothing was noted on 6/2/10 when file disputes). He issue $320 temporary credit until they investigate. He said that it will take 10 business days. I ask him if he can check the cameras, he replies that their Atm's cameras can't see my Hands. On 7/9/10 I received a mail from wachovia stating that they did not find the $320 so therefore they will debit the $320 from my account. Today I went to the branch where I made the deposit. I explain myself one more time; they offered me the address of the Office of the President of Wachovia because they could not help me either. That really not a way to make business I have been with Wachovia for almost 5 years. I stop my direct deposit and I withdraw all my money. I will write to the Office of the President to solve that issue and I will close my account.

Doing research, a lot of it, I learned they are greatly engaged in Federal Trade Commission violations. First, they employ anyone that can "use windows" and promote them as "banking specialists'.

Not a one of them know the banking laws, even who regulates them. They are a front for the Corp. being under a subcontracted group in each department. In most cases the Dispute could care less about the laws and even wrote me letters misquoting the laws.

However They are sold to the public as knowledgeable in the laws; the dispute seperates itself from the Fraud unit. When it was found the employees themselves were engaging in theft of my bank account, they would not touch the employees of another subcontracted group (dispute). In short, they are untrained, unqualified, unregulated, uncaring and unmonitored employees.

Most have no idea about any laws, any regulations, any banking, would not know what an interest rate is if it hit them in the face. As long as they protect each other, they keep their jobs.

Guest

I had something similar happen. A merchant debited my account a hefty sum without authorization and I contacted Wachovia's dispute center.

The customer service I received was absolutely horrible. I even had one rep call me and ask for the wrong person! They lost my paperwork and never made notes to my account. I was even told that what had happened was my fault!

To date, I have spoken to about 10 different reps - 8 of which have been incredibly rude.

Return calls and follows ups are promised but never actually happen.

I wrote to the President of Wachovia, but it's been over a week and I haven't heard anything back. So long, Wachovia.

Despite court order, Wachovia keeps my $$$

My mother died and left me $. As the only child, and the executor and the only beneficiary, I have complete control of the funds---that was until Wachovia decided to freeze the account. The court had ordered that an account be established---which I did and now, Wachovia demands I return to court. On Saturday the branch manager told me it was ''a law'' that I get these documents.....now I've found out it's on ''a custom''. If you value being able to move your own money around, I'd suggest you keep very far away from Wachovia. I had no problems whatsoever with any of the other large, well-known banks but Wachovia has my my life *** and I'll never do business with them again.

Wachovia- Poor Customer Service

Wachovia rep called me today and asked about my payment status, which isn't due until EOM. We recently applied for 2nd time for a mortgage mod. Again, declined. He asked me about my hardship. I told him to review his records. He insisted I answer his questions. I insisted he read my file that explains on 3 pages, what my hardship is. This continued for several more rounds. He then said to me, "I see your looking for revenge." I couldn't believe he said this. I asked for a supervisor 4 times before he transfered me. This guy didn't seem to care either. F them all at that bank.

Filed-claim for someone-else's debt against me

They assigned an old account of mine to a new customer. That customer overdrew his account. They filed for debt collection against me. They do not care. They do not want to help me. I spent hours on the phone, written letters, etc. Managers don't call me back. They don't respond to my letters. The debt collection company was more sypathetic to me about the problem than my own bank. You will rue the day you ever need a shred of help from them to sort out their bungling. Absolutely do not bank with them. Save yourself from insanity.

They ask for the date you opened the account as an extra precaution, because it could be someone else with your information trying to get a card sent to them. That's not bad business practices, it's them trying to prtect you and your account. You are a ***.k.i.n.g retard.

Wachovia closed my account for myself reporting MY card stolen!!!!!

Wachovia is the worst bank in the history of banking. Now that i got that out the way. I had my card stolen a week ago.Didnt realize it was stolen until i notice a $2700.00 deposit on there, while checking online. i called Wachovia, let them know, i was missing my card, and had no access to it. I do have two seperate accounts, and i took money out of the first account, and Wachovia saw that i didnt take money out of the 2nd acount. They proceeded to grill me until finally telling me they were closing my account because I was a liabilty!! I argued with them for 2 and a half hrs before they just told me that it didntmatter and they were closing not one but BOTH of my accounts, even though i reported this stolen. This has caused me so much embarrasment and confusion, because now because of *** Wachovia and their *** games, I know have to switch all my accounts to another bank. I Will NEVER do business with them again, and am trying to find the right lawyer to file a class a ction suit against them. Wachovia should not be in business at all!!!

no question is was because of that.

*** this bank. they support wet backs and the drug cartels.

I'm going elsewhere.

Hey, Larson. If the op has two bank accounts, it is suffice to say that they do have a job that pays.

Take the gerbil out of your butt and get a life, Larson. To the OP, something similar happened to me with Wachovia. I made a deposit after hours at the atm machine. They claimed the envelope that I fed into the atm was blank.

They didn't close my account, but wouldn't let me use my debit card to withdraw money anymore. I had to fight for almost six months before they finally admitted that they effed up. By then, I was already with another bank.

They tried apologizing but that wasn't good enough. They really suck.
